A client has made me aware of an article by Nina Pratt in the newspaper Politiken, 6.7.22, about her experience of a “friendship break-up”, where a good friend “strikes up” and other friends ghost her. Nina Pratt calls it a “friendship breakup”, which is shameful, humiliating and painful, because friendships are unique and bind life together despite ups and downs. Friendships show where we have been in life and who we are. In “My brilliant friend” and the following novels, Elena Ferrante has described the importance of a lifelong friendship between two girls / women with different life courses and dreams. The novel series has also been filmed and is available on HBO.
